Continuing Medical Education (CME) on Newborn Unit (NBU) and Kangaroo Mother Care Unit (KMCU)
Our Lady of Lourdes Mutomo hospital is committed to reducing perinatal and neonatal mortality. One of the recent initiatives that the hospital took was to make a bench mark visit to two centers of excellence – Pumwani Maternity Hospital and AIC Kijabe Mission Hospital. The visits were aimed at getting outstanding practical learning opportunities and identifying best practices, so that these can be implemented in the newly established NBU and KMCU at Mutomo hospital.
Feedback of the benchmark visit was presented at a CME held on 23rd September 2021 by Rebecca Munyao (acting Matron) and Juliana Musyoka (nurse in-charge of NBU). The presentation involved training staff on the application of best practices concerning matters of newborn health.
