Minor surgical procedures are performed in the minor theatre, either under local anaesthetic/analgesic or light sedation. Most of the patients managed here are outpatients and as such there is no schedule for these surgical procedures. Theatre staff and the surgeon/doctor work hand in hand to ensure the safety of the patient.  Procedures are always explained to the patients before hand to gain patients confidence and allay anxiety. Common procedures performed include:

  • Surgical toileting of wounds

  • Suturing of cults

  • Removal of foreign bodies

  • Incision and drainage of abcesses

  • Application of Plaster of Paris

  • minor skin grafting

  • Exision of small lipoma/ glands for biopsy

  • Abdomonal tapping

  • Catheterization and removal of catheters

  • Dillatation and curretage
