All HIV positive clients enrolled in the CCC program are encouraged to be a member of a ‘peer support group’ in their local area. The members support one and other by sharing the challenges they face of stigma and discrimination in society, the loss of their spouses

The members support one and other by sharing the challenges they face of stigma and discrimination in society, the loss of their spouses and breadwinners to HIV, the struggles of caring for and educating their children and providing food for themselves and their children. Many of them set up income-generating activities (IGAs) to try to meet some of these needs.  Mutomo Hospital strives to support such initiatives whenever possible. The members run these support groups themselves with oversight by the Home-Based Care team leader.
